
The first time I started the truck after installing the cables, you could VERY clearly hear The difference in starting/cranking power. Through the whole winter, my truck started with ease every single morning no matter how cold. I bought the 1/0 gauge kit back in November before the really harsh cold weather started. All the terminal lug eyelets were the proper size for their corresponding hardware that’s included with the kit and all wires were the right length so there are no headaches! Heavy duty terminals lugs are crimped properly with thick, adhesive lined shrink wrap that keeps moisture out of your wires and terminations. So, I took a chance and ordered the upgraded 1/0 version. Especially ones that address all the OEM flaws and with the option to go bigger with 1/0 gauge wire for maximum cranking power like this one. There are very few aftermarket companies who make a complete kit specific to the Duramax.

I didn’t want to replace them with OEM cables, I wanted something better and figured there was no better time to upgrade than now. Knowing I had to replace them, I decided to cut into some of the wires to find they were plagued with heavy corrosion. Once removed, you could feel how brittle the wires had become and see how corroded the cables were at the terminals. So I replaced both batteries thinking that would solve my problems but I had little to no gain in cranking power after installing them so, I started looking at the cables next. I had very weak cranking power and hard starts on most mornings during the winters, even when using the block heater overnight. I live up north in Maine where below freezing temperatures are frequent for several months out of the year. Factory Terminal ends are susceptible to water/moisture intrusion causing them to corrode and rot from the inside out.
